Honour your father and mother and you will live long in the land Lord has given you. This is the first commandment with promise. If a man or woman curses his father or mother his or her light is snuffed out in pitch darkness. If a man or woman attacks his or her father or mother he or she shall be put to death. Fathers and mothers do not embitter or arouse bitter feelings in your children or they may feel discouraged. And also do not exasperate or irritate intensely your children instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Whoever does not provide for his relatives especially for his immediate family has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel or unbeliever. As we have opportunity let us do good to all people especially for the family of believers. If anyone does not know how to handle his or her family how can he handle God's church.

In ministry first is God next is family and third is ministry. Husband and wife are equal both are created in the image of God. But the roles are different - wife has role of submission and husband has role of headship. Christ should submit church holy and blameless to God. Husband should submit wife holy and blameless to Christ. Therefore husband will be asked for wife's blemishes in bema judgement which is only for believers.

The purpose of marital life is to maintain the promise given to Abram in Genesis 12:3 which says I will bless those who bless you. I will curse those who curse you and all the families or people or nations of the earth will be blessed through you. You should not cheat your family and you can never.

Light is not the money resource but the good works which when displayed people praise God because of us. Show grace, compassion, kindness, humility and patience. The word family came from the word famulus which means servant. Jesus told if anyone wants to be great he or she should be servant and slave of all. To be great be young and to be ruler be servant. Luke 22:26.

Christ should submit church holy and blameless to God. Husband should submit wife holy and blameless to Christ. Therefore husband will be asked for wife’s blemishes in bema judgement which is only for believers. Eph. 5:26, 27. Wife’s head husband and his head Christ and Christ’s head is God. 1 Cor. 11:3. In marital posture first remains God then remains wife and husband and anyone third is compared to Satan.
Husband and wife. Who is greater?

Both are equal in essence, nature, will and purpose not same persons as Father and Jesus are same. John 10:30. Leave baggages of past also protective custody of parents and cleave to wife. One flesh means fuse into one knowledge. They are separate unit. They have parent and child relationship. Separate budget to cut the umbilical cord of emotional dependence on parents. Genesis 2:24, 25. Best companion or suitable help meet or surrounder everytime is in spouse. Genesis 2:18.

Exodus 22:22,23 says Do not oppress a widow or an orphan. If you do and they cry out to me I will certainly hear their cry and my anger will be aroused and I will kill you with the sword and your wives will become widows and your children fatherless. The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother the ravens of the valley shall pick it out and the vultures shall eat it. Proverbs 30:17.

Purpose matrix for spouse is that God may be honoured. Matt. 22:37. Three purposes for marriage are companionship, pleasure and procreation.

Divorce for two reasons accepted. One marital unfaithfulness or fornication or sexual immortality. Other when unbeliever deserts. Remarriage on two grounds first death of spouse next innocent spouse can remarry. Miscarriage is not abortion. Contraception is not abortion. Rape victim can urge abortion. Disabled are differently abled or challenged. God will use even descendants of prostitutes as Judge Jephthah was.
