Ordinary Understanding Just Won’t Do

Job 16:1-6
Then Job answered and said, I have heard many such things, and miserable comforters are ye all. Shall vain words have an end? Or what emboidereth thee that thou answerest. I also could speak as ye do. If Your soul were in my soul’s stead, I could heap up words against you and shake my head at you. But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief, and though I forbear what am I eased?

Asswage means eased. The condition of being without discomfort, freedom from pain, warry or agitation, constraint, embarrassment, or awkwardness, poise, naturalness, difficulty, hard work, great effort, freedom from financial difficulty, trouble or readiness. To alleviate or lighten, mitigate or lessen. Slacken the strain, pressure, tension, or stress of, loosen.

Grief means an intense mental anguish, deep remorse, acute sorrow or the like. To meet with disaster.

Grieve means to cause to be sorrowful or anguished; to distress, to harm or hurt. To be sorrowful, to lament, mourn.

A comforter is one that comforts, to soothe in time of grief, or fear, to console. To ease physically, relieve as of pain. Relief, consolation, solace, helps assurance, or one capable of giving ease to a situation.

In our text Job was put to the test at the suggestion of his own God. God had confidence in Job, that no matter what Job would not turn on God. Satan had the audacity to go before God with the sons of God through the impure prayers that Job’s children had sent up before God. Satan saw clouded smoke and knows that this was his ticket into the presence of God. God in his infinite wisdom put Satan in the trick bag he found himself in. He was so glad to be loosed, that he didn’t even realize the position God had just placed him in.

In Hebrews 2:16-18, Jesus did not take on the nature of angels but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted he is able to succor them that are tempted.

Hebrews 2:1-4 exhorts us to hear the word, take it in our hearts that it becomes a part of our being, and speak the word. Christ will confirm it through signs, wonders, and divers miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost according to God’s will.

God puts us in subjection, not the angels. He expects us to obey him, and be steadfast in his word. We have to read his word to know his mind. Without knowing his mind through his word, we cannot understand what his will is. Then we need the Holy Spirit to help our minds to bring the word back to our remembrance whatever we have read or heard. We have to subject our minds to God. He said let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 2:5. Ordinary understanding just won’t do.

It took a mind from heaven to conquer the temptations of this earth.

It took a mind from heaven to suffer and persevere in the earth.

It took a heavenly mind to know the word, speak the word and confirm it by miracles, signs and wonders. We have to lose our minds. Ordinary understanding just won’t do.

We can’t be over comers with our little minds. Our faith takes us to higher levels in Christ and will cause us to lose our little minds. God is calling for us to come higher; he is calling for a higher anointing in the earth. He is preparing his people for the things he wants to manifest in this time, but our understanding won’t let us achieve it or believe it because of where we are. We have to be fully committed, sold out to God to reach the pinnacle. Fully committed in our life, in the reading of the word, in prayer, fasting, service, in our giving, and all of these things will keep us in the will of God.

You’ve got to sell out, which means to give up everything in our life not like God. The things we know God is not pleased with. If things are not sold out to God in your life, they will sell you out. Just let it go.

Ordinary understanding just won’t do, we have got to come higher.
