Consolation in Afflictions and Adversities

Where do we turn for answers when a situation leaves us hanging on hope? I spent many years engulfed in my “carnal”, living for today world, before God reined me in and showed me a better way.
Where do you turn when adversities hit home? Do you question why afflictions take over a loved ones life? I hope you do, this is a “wake up call” from God, that “things” happen in his time not ours. Ever spent time wondering “why”, these verses give us a place to seek comfort, compassion and a renewed way to interact with God.

~ New Testament ~
Matt 5:4
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. (KJV)
Matt 11:28
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (KJV)
Matt 14:27
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. (KJV)
Matt 25:34-36
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (KJV)
Matt 25:40
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. (KJV)
Luke 6:21-23
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
23 Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. (KJV)
John 14:1
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. (KJV)
John 14:16
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; (KJV)
John 14:18
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (KJV)
John 14:27
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (KJV)
John 16:20
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. (KJV)
John 16:22
22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. (KJV)
John 16:33
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (KJV)
Rom 8:28
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (KJV)
Rom 8:35-39
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (KJV)
Rom 12:12
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; (KJV)
Rom 12:15
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. (KJV)
Rom 15:4
4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (KJV)
2 Cor 1:3-5
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. (KJV)
2 Cor 1:7
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. (KJV)
2 Cor 4:8-10
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. (KJV)
2 Cor 12:9
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (KJV)
1Thes 4:16-18
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (KJV)
II Th 1:7
7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, (KJV)
James 5:8
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. (KJV)
James 5:10
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. (KJV)

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (KJV)
Rev 3:2
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. (KJV)
Rev 7:14-17
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (KJV)

I leave you with this thought, why do we usually not seek out God in these situations. Why do we try, knowing Gods will, will be done. Rest with "In Gods time, not ours"!
