Paraplegic Minds and Hearts

“Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.” Luke 13:24 NIV

I have a dear friend who is paraplegic. Getting through narrow doors can be very difficult for her. If the door is very narrow she cannot get through it.

So, why is it that some will not be able to enter in through the narrow door which Jesus speaks about. I would venture to say it is because these who cannot enter through the narrow door have, if you will, paraplegic minds and hearts. Their minds and hearts are focused on what is below and not what is from above. They are crippled to the wonderful things of the Lord. They are focused on earthly desires, and cannot see anything which is not of benefit to them. They are not interested in the well-being of others, but only that of self. They are subject to the worldly trinity of “me, myself, and I”.

To be to able enter through the narrow door, one must rid themselves of the will of self and be concerned with the betterment of others. Inflated self-ego will certainly block one from being able to enter through the narrow door.

Do not allow your heart, mind and soul to become paraplegic. Make sure your heart, mind and soul are in the proper place, given to the Lord Jesus Christ. Then you shall be able to walk through the narrow door which leads to eternal life.
