“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God. And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” Luke 12:8-10 NIV

Publically acknowledging Christ is done both in word and in action. We can speak multitudes about Christ, who He is, and what He does for us in our lives. If, however, our actions do not reflect the words which we speak about Christ in our lives, how can we truly expect others to believe what we say? We have all heard the saying “Action speaks louder than words.” I say, with Christ, we need both, words and actions.

We all have shortcomings which we need help from the Lord and the indwelling Spirit. I must admit, with me, I am shy on forbearance. Patient endurance is not one of my better qualities. I find that I can easily get upset when something doesn’t go as I have planned. I need to often ask the Lord and the Holy Spirit for help on this issue. If I want people to better see the light of Christ shining through me, then I must keep working on endurance and patience.

Whatever your struggle may be, take it to the Lord in prayer. If you seek to be a better vessel for Him so that His light may shine even brighter through you, you will be helped if your heart is sincere in the request.

One who blasphemes the Holy Spirit speaks against the very works that are done by Christ and His Spirit. One who speaks against the works done by Christ and the indwelling Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
