Let’s desire the Giver, more than the gift

It would really be a very awkward and pitiful situation if we would know everything about a friend, however would not personally know that friend, if we would really love everything about a good book, however remain totally ignorant about the author, similarly if we would know everything about God, yet fail to recognize Him in our lives.

The Pharisees at the time of Jesus knew the law very well, however did not care to know Him Who gave the law, they knew all about God, yet failed to know Him personally.

“Then they said to Him, “Where is Your Father?”

Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.”

John 8:19 NKJV

From the beginning of creation, God has desired fellowship with us and when God is in our life, the radiance of His light permeates through our entire being and makes us blessed.

The very presence of God within us brings hope, joy peace, healing and blessedness.

Yet imagine a circumstance if we would desire from the Lord all He gives, yet do not desire Him in our life…if this possible?

During the exodus of God’s people, a time came when God was troubled with His people, for constantly their desire was for God’s blessings and not for God and this is what God proposed to them..

“And I will send My Angel before you,…… Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”

Exodus 33:2-3 NKJV

This is how Moses replied to God’s proposal…

“Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us?.....”

Exodus 33:15-16 NKJV

We care much for riches and all our material desires, yet this is what the Lord wants us to do…

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

 Matthew 6:33 NKJV

Let’s desire the Giver, more than the gift, the Healer, more than our healing, the Deliverer more than our deliverances….let’s desire God more than all the blessedness that He gives.
