I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:17-20 NIV

It would be quite possible for us as followers of Christ to get caught up in power and authority with which we may be blessed in carrying out the advancement of God’s kingdom. Much happens to us with the indwelling of the Spirit of Truth. Even if we stay humble enough to remember that what we have is only because it has been given to us from above, it still is not what should cause us to rejoice.

We are told by Christ to rejoice because our names are inscribed in heaven. Please stop for a minute and truly reflect on what Christ tells us here. Heaven is to be our eternal home. It is of the Father and the Son. It is perfect in all manner. We cannot at all really understand it because our brains are too feeble. It is the prize for which we run the race. Now, within this total utopian place we find that our names are inscribed. Close your eyes for just a minute and try to visualize seeing your name inscribed in heaven. How do you envision it? This is such a true blessing we have, and we absolutely must rejoice in it! It is given to us by our loving Heavenly Father, and it has been bought for us by the shedding of the blood of the Lamb of God at Calvary.

Rejoice at the inscription of your name in heaven!!
