God's hands

Proverbs: 16:3 – “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established”.

There’s this story in the bible which I have been taught many times at the Sunday school and it has become so familiar to me. But I never looked in depth about how it could speak into my life until few days back. I saw an image of a beautiful line “If you put what little you have into the Hand of God, it won’t just add up: God will make it multiply”. This line reminded me of this story and how it is a reminder of God’s manifold blessings.

This story is found in John: 6:1-14:

1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

² And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

³ And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

⁴ And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

⁵ When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

⁶ And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

⁷ Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

⁸ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

⁹ There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

¹⁰ And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

¹¹ And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

¹² When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

¹³ Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

The story talk about the Lord’s marvellous doing, the disciples had only 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes which they got from the lad. But there are many people to be fed. The Lord took the loaves and the fishes and gave thanks before He distributed to the disciples. The disciples took them and gave it to the people gathered. After all were fed, the Lord asked the disciples to gather the remaining food and the remained were over and above unto them that had eaten.

What I could learn from this story is that, when we place everything in God’s hands, we will see it multiply or bear fruit. We must be willing to trust the Lord’s  plans no matter how the situation maybe, just trust Him and give into Jesus Hands and He will take care of it for you. He would do unto you more than you can imagine. He’s a faithful father and He will take care of His children.

Life is not easy and no matter how much we try to get things done with our won strength, we always struggle. But with God you can walk into victory. Trust God and give all your cares, burdens and everything you wish to do like your desires of your heart. God will answer in His own ways and own time. And the most important thing here is to trust His will because what He gives is the best. Be open to receive His will for You. When you listen, you will hear His still small voice.

Dear Heavenly Father,

It is a privilege to come into Your presence and worship You. Lord, we are grateful for all that You have one in our lives. Lord, we ask You to lead us and teach us Your ways, Lord, we commit our worries, our labour and everything into Your hands. Lord, bless us and do unto us according to Your will. In Jesus Christ name, Amen.
