--THE VANITY OF CHURCH PEOPLE-- 

The church universal is a beautiful and wonderful thing. It makes no difference which denomination, all of us make up the body of Christ. And the even better comparison, we are the bride of Christ. A wife-to-be that is perfect by no means. History embarrassingly shows the stains of our past, which cannot be ignored. Her biggest issue is not the institution itself, but that she is made up of individual people.

Jesus says, “I came as a doctor for the sick, not the healthy.” Meaning churches should be hospitals with churchgoers serving as the nurses, EMTs, and janitors. But instead, some individuals set them up as museums for the dead and act as OCD curators. They cling to the traditions that brought victories in the past, to the point that they block the Spirit from bringing victory today. Without the Spirit moving there is no way for new people to become believers. And without new people eventually there is no church.

Prayer: Dear God, show me how I can serve in your hospital. Give me the heart for the people who come, even if they are different. Help me to be apart of the transforming of my church from a museum for the dead to a hospital for the living. Amen.
