Times of Trouble

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Do we not as Christians say “Why me God?” Do we say “Why did this happen? Could not something have been done to prevent this from occurring?”

In the above passage Christ plainly tells us that we will have trouble in the world. Even though we believe in Christ as our Savior, we are not immune to trouble. Why? Because troubled times are part of life. We are meant to experience life in all its fullness. That fullness does include troubled times.

We also need to face troubled times for our faith in Christ to grow. When life gets to be difficult, we need to turn to Christ for help in dealing with the times. We can learn things in life through troubled times. We can gain insight. We will have experiences we can then share with others, letting them know how our Savior helped get us through those troubled times.

One thing that we have that unbelievers do not have, to help us through troubled times, is the peace of Jesus Christ. If we turn to Jesus during troubled times, we can feel an inner peace through these times, a peace that the unbeliever cannot feel. What a truly wonderful gift we have, the gift of true peace during times of trouble. The world cannot understand this at all.

Jesus has overcome the world. We shall overcome our troubles if we remain united to Christ. The Father loves us. On the other side of our troubled times is a faithful heart, soul, and mind, even more at peace with life, knowing that our Lord is always with us. The Father and the Son always watch over us and guide us! AMEN!!
