When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” John 13:12-17 NIV

Those whom Jesus loves, He loves to the end. A true believer will always belong to Christ. Jesus will never turn away from the true believer.

Here are a couple of things to meditate on after reading about the washing of the disciple’s feet. Just as Christ humbled himself in so doing, we as believers must truly be ready to humble ourselves in actions which bring glory to the Father and the Son. Nothing should be too low for us to do if it brings glory to the Father and the Son. Jesus died for us, we who are wretched sinners. How dare we refuse to do anything that would bring glory to our Heavenly Father and our Lord because it is below us to do so. Also, the washing of the feet can be compared to our need for a spiritual washing of our soul from sin. Without this spiritual washing we have no place with Christ. When Peter realized he needed this washing he asked Jesus to not only wash his feet, but his hands and head as well. We all need the sanctification that only Christ can provide.

There is no one like our Savior, Jesus Christ. Through the Holy Spirit, so much is learned through reading the word of God. Read the word of God often and let your soul be cleansed!!
