Faith

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceaseth
His mercies never comes to an end
They are new every morning
Always, new every morning
Great is your faithfulness 
Oh Lord... Great is your faithfulness ! 


He sat gazing for what seemed like eternity ... funny, eternity indeed!
He'd been seating for several hours, on the dew soaked lawn beside the glassy waters of the little pond, his favourite spot in one of the many parks in his neighbourhood.

The thoughts would not just stop, he sees graphic pictures of portions of his life spring up in a kaleisdocope of film colours like in high definition! His minds rewinds  events back to the catalyst of this deep soul search and what makes him see all around him as futile. Now he understands the 'preacher' in the book of Ecclesiastes; all that he felt when he wrote those words... VANITY UPON VANITY, ALL IS VANITY!

Ecclesiastes 1, indeed this describes his life on the fast lane, big time executive, wonderful career, elite circle of friends and colleagues, hob- nobbing always with the cream-de-la-cream of the society BUT it did not stop the Sun from rising and going down and seasons from changing as due ( except for climate change...huh!).

When his personal crisis began was when he notices for the fist tIme, the 'little lady' who has always been a part of the team in the office but was insignificant and almost non existent to him because she was not part of the inner caucus . .. The 'happening people; so he hardly gave her a second glance, oftentimes he spoke to her in rude rebuff if their parts unavoidably crossed officially.
He had no time for such people; no fashion sense, no poise, neither drinks nor smokes and above all she did not speak with finesse... she had a funny accent too! one major thing though, she was a comitted worker 

She walks in on him in his office crying, actually bawling his eyes out in quiet  grief in his office, the folder that she had brought to him for approval falls to the floor but she quickly composes herself, pulls the door shut behind her, pulls some tissues out of her skirt pocket and silently extends them to him.

She stood  there for a few minutes whilst he blows his nose then swings around towards the door but he begs her to wait. Till this moment he still does not understand what came over him, not only did he find himself in such an undignified position of actually crying (Mr no-heart! Mr cold- heart!), he poured out his heart to this woman who had been diligently divulging her duties for several years but ignored and snubbed by the many egoistic empty vessels that surrounded her who felt they were of some sort of superior  breed.

She did not say a word rather she listened with understanding and compassion written all over her face, when she saw that I was spent of every tear, she smiled and said, ` all will be well, you'll  see`!
I felt a peace i'd never experienced settle on me in those words, she turned and left my office but at the doorway, she says... Jesus loves you.

After that episode, we spent our lunch break hour together while I enquired about this ... Jesus.

Long story cut short, today is decision time, sitting by this cool water,looking for this God that had brought peace that still can not be described into his life, though many problems in his life look bleak for solutions, he had an uncanny feeling of assurance in the words of the Bible that he has lately been studying and the words seem so alive as they jump out and merge with his being.

As gentle breeze rustle the leaves of a nearby tree, he smiles and says YES in his heart to this new life that has come to take over the old one which had neither fabric nor depth, but in truth offered emptiness soon as the parties and loudness of shallow individuals like he used to be were gone.

This is the true essence of it all, a new life.
