And those who handle the law did not know me.”  To handle the law of God without knowing the God of the law is to mishandle it.  It is like handling the Word of God without knowing Him who is the word, that is, it is dangerous.  It would be like handling a razor sharp sword or knife or a loaded gun without knowing anything about them, without really knowing what you were doing.  That would be dangerous for yourself or anyone around you.  That would be like a priest who didn’t seek God,  as the verse before it implies.  A preacher who didn’t preach the Word is like a supposed Bible teacher who didn’t teach the Bible, because he wasn’t carefully, diligently STUDYING the Bible.  And yet this is what we are seeing so much of today, and this is why so much damage is being done.  I heard a pastor rightly pray that he would “do no damage” to the Word before he preached!  You might say it is the hippocratic oath of the ministry of the word.
