DELIVERANCE

What is this thing
That comes at me
That drives me from His grace?
What is this demon
Locked inside
That I've beckoned to debase?

It drives and feeds and idolizes
And takes my nature's best.
It lies and steals my very heart
As faith's put to the test.

If I can hold
My head above
The stench of evil's maw,
I'll reach a height
As yet unknown
But fear decries I'll fall.

You lie, you fiend, you compromise
You give just half or less.
My everything to He who died
Is what I must confess.

Don't listen to the voice of doubt
It's not from God's just throne.
The dregs of pride of Lucifer
Shall never claim His own.

Love lifted me from deep morass
And set my heart to fly.
To be completed, whole and healed;
The liar can only lie.

In prayer I know, is where I'll find
The peace I've always sought.
In company with Christ my Lord
Whose Father's refuge bought.

Dear God, stand by an emptied vessel
So tired of sin and lust.
Dear Spirit, fill this empty man
Till thoughts align in trust.

It's only You
There is no other
Without You, I'm alone.
I celebrate Your love for me
And await my journey home.
