The changing season reminds me of things to come!  As a child I loved Thanksgiving.  There was always food we had only on holidays such as turkey and dressing and pecan pie. That was a sure reminder that Christmas was just around the corner

As an adult my reasons for enjoying the seasons have changed dramatically. It’s amazing how we speak of aging, for the most part, as a time of physical handicaps and limitations, when it takes the years of life to help us know God’s trustworthiness and His love, how He takes the hard places in life to grow us. For me, praise trumps food now at Thanksgiving because I know Christ intimately and Christmas is what makes Thanksgiving happen in my life.

How kind of God that it does not take money, talents, club membership, specific nationalities or social status to become a member of His family.  It only takes acceptance of His son, Jesus, into our life with His forgiveness of our sins. That seals our eternity forever. It does not make us perfect, but it makes us desperately want to be that way and gives us the courage to do our best to live a Christ centered life.

If life has made you weary, and seasons don’t particularly matter to you anymore, that particular thing is spoken of in the Bible. Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV) says:  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Don’t believe God does not care.  Remember, He gave up a Son for us.
