1John 1:9 - “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (NKJV)

I am so thankful to God He loves me despite my humanness and that His Spirit shines His light on my sin and depravity. I am overwhelmed by His mercy, His desire to forgive and to reconcile with me.

Yesterday, at work, I was in some sort of funk, out of sorts, unhappy – even depressed. The feeling was weighing me down and pushing me inward. While I recognized the problem, I couldn’t seem to will my way out of it. During my lunch break I sought some solitude and approached God, imploring Him to remove the heaviness that was overcoming me - confessing that this introversion was not aligned with God’s purpose for me at work. For, as His servants, we are supposed to be “…lights in the world…” (Phil.2:15) and the light in me was definitely being obscured. This arrow of the enemy had found its mark because I had failed to put on my armor, as I should have, and I needed to repent of my sin. Sure enough, God was faithful to bring me back mentally and spiritually in relationship with Him. I’d like to hope lesson learned.

Lord, prepare the path before me each day and teach me to walk it gladly with you as my shield and my guide. Help me to recognize and resist temptation. Illuminate anything that would interrupt our walk together or that would damage your reputation. Never let me forget how much you love me. Thank you for your love and faithfulness toward me. Amen.
