If you are an American citizen, imagine one day going to your mailbox and finding an invitation from the President, inviting you to come to the White House to visit with the President. Or, if you are a citizen of a different country, imagine receiving an invitation from the highest member of your government to come and visit them.

What thoughts would go through your mind? What shall I wear? What shall I be prepared to discuss with the dignitary? How do I make sure I present myself in a proper manner?

Do you know we all have received an invitation from a king? In fact, the invitation we have all received is from the King of Kings. Matthew 11:28-30 says "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” We are invited to come to Jesus as we are. We do not need to wear special clothes or be concerned about what to say. Jesus knows our heart. He knows what we need even before we ask. Jesus will provide rest for the heart burdened down with earthly concerns. If we approach Him with a humble heart we will receive in abundance.

Now, how is that for an invitation? Awesome!
