A Heaven Sent Day

There are some days which are given to us straight from heaven.
Right from the start of dawn until midnight we feel the heavens strongly in our favor, handing down each moment for us with extreme care. We see how one after the other our prayers get answered and we can hardly contain our excitement. We even win against the odds to make such a day happen.
The day turns into an extraordinary one, joy written all the way. We meet our hearts desires, see our dreams being fulfilled, we collect new precious moments and hold on to the magic of each passing second.
Such days are truly heaven sent! A song being sung from the orchestra in heaven.

Then there are other days where God pours his blessings in true physical form. We see the rains gushing down from heaven and one can truly feel as if the angels themselves are watering the earth.
The rains bring with them a sense of freshness and coolness. A tranquil effect! The rains also changes the atmosphere into an embracing one. It brings forth feelings of romantic passion. Two lovers sharing an umbrella in the heavy downpour.
Such an ecstatic scene! The backdop of the rains add to the emotions raining in their hearts. They do not mind letting go of the umbrella and drenching themselves in the rain. All they want is to enjoy the moment and give it all their love.
Even on dry days, they bask in the dancing clouds as it moves from one end of the sky to the other. At night, the starts literally rain down glitters of love to jewel their feelings.
All they wish to do is leave the world behind and be cosseted in their own world.
There are also days when we meet our loved ones as we walk down the road of life. When we see them coming from the opposite direction her hearts melt instantly. Such a meeting again becomes heaven sent.

There was one such day in the life of a gentleman who travelled a long way to attend mass in a neighboring countryside. This Church had gone through the ravages of war but still stood strong. It had a lot of cracks here and there and was badly in need of repairs. One such huge crack behind the altar was covered with a wide tablecloth beautifully embroidered. It not only served to hide the crack but also added as a lovely backdrop to the altar.
The man could not take his eyes off the cloth throughout the service. At the end of the service he goes up to the pastor and inquires about the cloth. The pastor replies that the cloth was donated by a woman who lived across the town and belonged to the parish.
The man goes on to recount that the woman whom he loved more than two decades ago had stitched a similar tablecloth. They had both got separated during the war and he had feared that she had died in one of the concentration camps.
His whole being started trembling as he requested the pastor to take him to this woman's house.
The pastor readily agrees and they both travel to the other side of the town. The pastor knocks at the door and they both wait. The man is full of nervous anticipation hoping with all his heart that God answers his silent prayer.
The door soon opens. The woman greets the pastor with a broad smile which soon freezes when she sees the man standing behind. She cannot believe the sight in front of her. The man whom she had once loved and never stopped loving, the one whom she thought had died in the war was alive and in her very presence.
They both embrace in a tight hug as if to erase the pain of the in-between years and welcome the joy of a new life together. The pastor cannot hold back the tears in his eyes at this beautiful reunion.
The table cloth which belonged to another age and another time now became a reality of the present time. It was a day truly marked out by God to reunite these two lovers. Heaven sent and filled with the pure fragrance of paradise.

There have been many such significant days that we can chalk out in the Bible. The day Prophet Samuel anointed David who later went on to become king. The day David won against Goliath the giant with just a stone from his sling.
The day Elijah was taken up to heaven in a chariot of burning fire. The day God parted the Red Sea. The day when Daniel's companions Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar's golden statue and were thrown into a fiery furnace. A fourth figure was seen in the furnace, one with the appearance like a son of the gods. On seeing this, the King saved the three men from the raging fire and acknowledged the God of Israel.
The day Susanna was saved by the wisdom of Daniel when she was falsely accused and ordered to be put to death by two elders and judges at that time who had a lustful interest in her and decided to take revenge on her because she had refused to give in to them.
David examines the two judges separately and convicts them on the basis of the wrong and different answers given by them. Susanna's honour is thus saved and her life spared.
The day Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land is another historical day.
The most blessed days being the day God himself came down on earth to be like one of us; the day he was conceived in the womb of Mary, the day he was born in Bethlehem, the day he was presented in the temple, the day he rose and conquered death and the day he ascended to His Father in heaven.

Every new day comes with a new pledge and hope. Every sunrise is a new golden halo from the Lord.
May we always see a carefully packed blessing from heaven in each day that is given to us. Search for a treasure from above in the gift of every moment. Add our own perfume of love to lock such days in time. After all, every day is Heaven sent with heaven's own scent.
