THE ADZ

I heard a voice as if from heaven
"Don't give up," I heard Him say.
"Your night has surely been a long one,
But My peace will come with the light of day."

Oh to walk in a blissful peace-filled
Life that I see around that curve
Why would I stay here, in the darkest shadows
Where is my armor?
Where is my nerve?

To walk away from that which you know
Is really not an easy thing.
He showed me so much
Would I throw it away
For the pleasure of sin
And the guilt that it brings.

And where would I be without the remorse
I'd have given up long, long ago.
So totally surrendered
To the wages of death
That my fate would be sealed, that I know.

I'll continue to fight
By the Holy Ghost's power
We'll engage hell in battle
Till my last dying hour
It will never be easy
I've accepted that fact
But His grace is sufficient
For the strength that I lack.

When I stand soon before You
Will You please see my best
The tools of the Carpenter
Have led me to rest.
