Newborn

Something in her eyes reminds me of the way I felt when I first believed in You.

Looking up in Heaven’s Eyes I felt so new, so unashamed, so free.

When I cradled her tiny head for the first time, I promised that I’d never let her go.
It’s how Your love embraced me when I melted into Your warm forgiveness.

I’ll never forget the day she first said my name, "Daddy". My soul was light as a feather and I couldn’t help but speak Your Name and give my praise to You.

But when she took her first step across the kitchen floor I realized: "This is where it all begins".

For as much as I rejoice in the blessing that she can move and walk and crawl, I will always fear the knowledge that my precious baby girl is just as prone to fall.
