This poem is based on the Old Testament Commission of Isaiah, as given in (Isaiah 6:1-13).

In this passage Isaiah is seen outside, near the altar in front of the temple. The doors are supposed to be open and the veil hiding the Holy of Holies withdrawn, showing a vision of God, attended by His holy angel (1 Kings 22:19), and wearing a robe and train that fills the temple.

The focus of this occasion was to prepare Isaiah for his ministry. And the revelation of the glory of the Lord was the foundation which lead to Isaiah's confession, which brought his cleansing and enabling him to hear the Word of the Lord. This was his commission to preach God's message.

This call could only come after Isaiah's sin had been cleansed. The call came with a question, " Whom shall I send, and who will go for us" ? The same holds true today. We, as Christians, cannot witness to the saving grace of God (Ephesians 2:8-9) until we have been cleansed, by God (Psalm 51:2,7,10)

And God is asking this same question today . Will you go for Him ? (Mark 16:15) Will you support those who have gone to the uttermost parts of the world, in the spread of the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20) ?
