The Fruit of Longsuffering

Gal 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Halleluyah!!!
The bible says because we committed sin our deserved wages was to die but God in His rich mercy and longsuffering does not want us to perish but all come to the saving knowledge of the truth of the gospel.

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Pet 3:9

As we have come to repentance and welcomed into the household of God, He expects us to also have a longsuffering towards others, your neighbor in bringing them to repentance.

Longsuffering is described as ...
- Long, patient endurance of insult, abuse or mistreatment; longanimity
- Patience or tolerance in the face of adversity; forbearance, long-suffering.

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? Rom 2:4

For our salvation Jesus had a long, patient endurance, receiving the insults, abuse, and death to rescue us from the clutches of sin and death to make us heirs of God and co-heirs with Him. Being born again, we are born with the seed of longsuffering in the ministry of reconciliation given us.

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:18-19

Fruits are therefore desired in every area of life to bring in fulfillment, satisfaction and succession. A fruit is ...
- The seed-bearing part of a plant, edible, colourful and fragrant
- An end result, effect, or consequence; advantageous or advantageous result.
- To produce fruit.

Jesus is saying, I have chosen you to bear good fruit ...karpos..gk, and let the fruit remain when they bear, the fruit of longsuffering ...makrothumia..gk, meaning ...longanimity, ...forbearance, ...fortitude, ...longsuffering, ...patience.

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Col 3:12

The fruit of longsuffering is required to bear in your life's journey because the devil will come uninvited to put you to test and you must have the fortitude to overcome every test to qualify for the promotion.

Fortitude is described as a...
- Mental or emotional strength that enables courage in the face of adversity.
- Physical strength, inner strength, moxie, resolve

The journey to the throne is not on a bed of roses, so we are encouraged to bear that fruit of mental and emotional strength, longsuffering, because we will face satanic opposition to derail our smooth journey but we must overcome to receive the crown.

Fruit bearing beloved depends on its source, and the source of our fruit is from the Spirit of Christ who has become one with our spirit. One of such fruits from Christ's Spirit is the fruit of longsuffering.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. Jn 15:4-5

Beloved, abiding in Jesus is abiding in the Word which is Spirit and life, to produce an overcoming strength for you. The long patience you have with your troublesome neighbor or colleague or the life challenge is that fruit of longsuffering.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Eph 4:2

In our good fight of faith, be still and know that Jesus is working out the answer. You need to hold on and hold out till the answer reaches you with that fruit of longsuffering.

Will Jesus find your fruit of longsuffering edible, colourful and fragrant?

Beloved let the fruit of longsuffering bear.

Be blessed!!
