DAY FOUR
BASKING IN THE PRESENCE
And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. (Ezekiel 2:1)
Ezekiel had been basking in the presence of the lord and we must recognize the importance of worship and for the place that it plays in our lives and in our ministry. It is essential and we should never attempt to do God's work without first preparing ourselves to be filled with the spirit of God. Worshiping God is never a bad thing and we must see it for the place that it plays in having an effective ministry.
We must remember also, that worship is preparation for something else. The first thing God told Ezekiel to do was to stand upon his feet and be ready to receive the word of the Lord. There are many things that get in the way of spending time to hear God speak. Being busy is not necessarily a sign of God's activity. I have talked to pastors and I have seen it in the quality of preaching that they are too busy to spend time listening to what God has to say. They spend a lot of money on books written by others to help them save time in preparation for preaching. The time for personal nourishment is very limited and what they wind up doing is preparing skeletons instead of serving a nourishing meal to feed the hungry Saints. We should never make anything more important than hearing God speak. Ezekiel is reminded that now God had a message and He needed the messenger to spend time in the presence of God in order to hear what He has to say.
The message in this section is that it is important to spend time meditating on the word of God in order to more clearly understand the message tat He has for us to deliver. Time spent listening to God results in clear understanding. That is what we all should strive for.
