God asked me
To walk awhile with my friends.
I went a step ahead
And walked an extra mile
To enjoy their joyful company.

God asked me
To sit for some moments with the lonely.
I went a step ahead
And sat an extra hour
To listen to their woes and silent cries.

God asked me
For a little love to be poured on my brethren.
I went a step ahead
And gave them a full dose of my love to share.

God asked me
To wait some time for the lost to turn back.
I went a step ahead
And waited the full length of time until they returned.

God asked me
To speak a kind word to a stranger in need.
I went a step ahead
And embraced them into my friendly fold.

God asked me
To spend a day with a loved one.
I went a step ahead
And offered all my days on a silver platter.

God asked me
To rain a kiss on the one I loved.
I went a step ahead
And showered kisses and kisses to my heart's content.

God asked me
To lend my hands to write his message.
I went a step ahead
And wrote and wrote untiringly with joy.

God asked me
To give my voice to speak his word.
I went a step ahead
And preached to all those around me.

God asked me
To hand over my day for him to use.
I went a step ahead
And gave him all my days to plan to the full.

God asked me
To show the way to those in the dark.
I went a step ahead
And pointed to the Cross, a sure map to find their route.
