Sometime You’ve Got To Run

II Samuel 15:12-15

Now in our text, David’s life is plotted against by his own son. Absalom was David’s third son by Maacah. He was spoiled, impatient, and overly ambitious; who tried too forcibly seize the kingship from his own father by whatever means necessary. This act was motivated by vanity and pride, and it led to his tragic death. Sometimes you have got to run. You will see how important it is to know who is leading you, and whom you are following. Be ready to obey and know that you are ready to go all the way.

David found himself in a position, which caused him to flee for his life. His own son wanted him dead. David was anointed King over Israel for which Absalom was an heir anyway. He appointed Absalom to judge the people when they came to the King for judgement; thereby he stole the hearts of the people from his father. Now Absalom was cunning, he was conniving and a deceiver. He deceived up a plan to kill his father, the king and he would become King. His plot was to go down to Hebron to pay his vow, which he vowed to the Lord, then said if the Lord bring him back to Jerusalem then he would serve the Lord. David gave him his blessings like a father would his child. But Absalom had a plan. Sometime your own children plan and are planning on you. You have to run from some of the things they would want you to do. It may cause destruction or disaster.

The people followed Absalom, being the King’s son; they just did what he said. They had no idea that they were being used. (A cult).
They were innocent. That’s why it’s so important to know the vision of your leaders and who you are following (verse 12) and the conspiracy was strong for the people increased continually with Absalom, but God, God always let you know that trouble is around. In (verse 13) a messenger came to David to warn that the hearts of the people was after Absalom.
In verse 14 David gives specific orders to all of his servants. You have to be ready to move in a split second, as soon as the command comes. Be ready to do battle, warfare, be delivered, sometime even run. You’ve got to follow specific instruction to the letter. In verse 21 you’ve got to be willing to go all the wary, no matter where your faith takes you. In verse 23, God will always make you a way of escape.

Sometime you’ve got to run for your life. If you are willing to go, obey and trust God, then you shall pass over death.

We sometime find ourselves just like Joseph. We can be in the palace, run across a queen and have to flee for our lives. You’ve got to know when situations come up, whether you need to run or stay. When we want something to happen in our lives, we need to run some things off, run from them. What we want will only attract what we are. Example-if you are a prostitute, all you will attract is Johns.
You may want a mate, but ain’t nothing gonna come until you are a submitted vessel to God. How can we be submitted, committed, and dedicated, diligent to the work at hand with someone else, if we aren’t giving our first fruit of Love to God, our creator and lover of our souls?

You’ve got to be careful about the things you go to and especially if you are called, anointed, and appointed. God has given us ethics in ministry, a moral mandate for ministry in whatever capacity we serve in. God wants us to do the right things. It's a certain way we live, carry ourselves and the things we do, should be of a good report. You have to be careful how you deal with certain things.
If we are not careful, we will die from the very thing that God has called us to. He calls us to heal and to deliver the world, but instead we become hypocrites. He calls us saints, not aint’s.
Saints should forgive, forgive and run. Don’t get caught up in it again. You need to run from the things of the flesh and run to do the work of the Lord. When you do a work for God, you sacrifice. You need less casual time and less sleep. If you put anything before God, he will move them or you. Run from, self-seeking people, self-centered, it’s always about them. They always have a motive minus God.
Run from emotionally unstable people. God wants us to be stable, sound, governing our emotions. He wants us to deal with stuff. The people will judge you by what you do. Birds of a feather flock together. Sometime you have to run from your friends to follow God. Don’t get needed emotional reinforcement from someone and something else other than God; usually things can be solved spiritually.
Run from emotional adultery. Put God first in all things. Don’t wait till you mess it up to seek him. Run from vainglory, pride. Let a man account of us as of the ministers of Christ and a good steward of the mysteries of good; for it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful. Someone else ought to vouch for you, not you lifting up yourself. Run from it. Run to doing good.
Run to spiritual growth and development.
Run to developing yourself mentally, physically, socially.
Run to having some issues and ethics, sound stewardship, being a leader and family oriented, being that husband, wife, sister or brother, parent, that God has called you too.
Having ethics is what ought to be in spite of what is irregardless of what we say the standard is, it’s what God say.
We should be like a king or queen coming in a formal setting. We are a royal priesthood, a chosen generation. Everybody should respect you and who you are. You don’t have to validate who you are; you should be validated by someone else. You should be a billboard for Jesus.
You should run to kick down the roadblocks in your life and church.
Run from being a club member, a click where only members can come.
Run from wrong methods; don’t beat no one up. Be the salt of the earth, bring out the flavor of what’s there. Have good marketing skills, we are the skills in the earth that people see to Jesus, how we look, what we say, what we portray. A statement is made in what we do.
Sometime we have to run, but make sure you run to the right things, the things that will edify and bring life.
