Be Ye Followers of God

Eph 5:1
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Halleluya!!!
Beloved by our acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we have been made the children of God being born again into the household of faith.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Jn 1:12-13

By this privillege, we are the dear children of God. Apostle Paul says as dear children we should be followers of God.

A follower is described as ...
- One who follows, comes after another.
- One who is a part of master's physical group, such as a servant or retainer.
- One who follows mentally, adherer to the opinions, ideas or teachings of another, a movement etc.
- An imitator, who follows another's example
- A pursuer.

Beloved you are a Follower ...mimetes..gk, meaning ...an imitator, ...a follower, of God and your duty is to do and behave as your heavenly Father.

What are we to follow or imitate or pursue? It is the Unseen Word sitting on the throne whose Word we must hear and be doers or followers of it. The Word of God dominating us will give us an authority in heaven and obeying its commands then we are true disciples of Jesus.

As we look into the mirror of God ...the Word, and be doers of it, we will be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ by a transfiguration into the same image from glory unto glory and you will be transformed. The bible says ...

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor 3:18

As the disciples looked at Jesus, the Word, on the mount of transfiguration, He was transfigured before them. It was for them and us to behold and understand that by the Word living in us, we will be transfigured into the same image of Christ. This is what the followers of God must do.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Eph 4:32

By the Word, and being pursuers or imitators of it, Jesus is building Himself into us the reason He said abide in me and I in you and the same will bear much fruit.

For Christ to be greater in you, we are to conform to His image by being good followers of the Word of God and to have authority and power in heaven and on earth to bind and to loose. This is because, Christ and His Word are One.

Also to follow ...dioko..gk, means ...to pursue, ...ensue, ...follow, ....press forward., to this mark of our calling, be ye followers of God, who is holy, perfect, just and merciful.

For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. 1 Thes 4:7

In other words, we are to follow our purifier who is Christ without Him we cannot see God. Our duty is to pursue and press forward in keeping to our purification and purity we have obtained from the Lord.

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 1 Pet 1:15
In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. Lk 1:75

It should be in our consciousness to ensue holiness in all our walk of life, if we want to see the Lord. We shall see the Lord in our situation when we be followers, imitators, pursuers of God in holiness.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Mt 5:48

A good disciple is one who is a good follower or imitator. The aim of the accuser is to lead you into temptation from being a follower of God and therefore cause you to defile or stain your white linen garment. Satan wants to overthrow your position and cut off your devotion, communion and duty to God as a follower.

Beloved, If you miss the mark as we all do, do not run away from God but rather run to the purifier who will cleanse you again and again to perfect your following. The bible says ...

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 Jn 1:9

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. Rom 6:22

Be ye followers of God to call many to repentance.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Cor 7:1

And beloved, be diligent to make your calling and election to this state of holiness sure by following the purifier Christ Jesus our Lord.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 1 Jn 4:11
