BATTLE UNTIL DEATH

Although we fight the spiritual war with the weapons at our disposal we still sometimes struggle with taking authority when it comes to the battle of our hearts, even if we are living obedient lives in Christ Jesus. For the more we fighting the good fight, the more it seems we are losing the battle. We cannot seem to obtain the victory as we should as disciples of Christ Jesus.

The problem does not lie in our strategy; it lies in our way of thinking in how we perceive our lives should be when we are truly followers of Christ Jesus. Most churches unfortunately in the western world are proclaiming a problem free life when followers of Christ are truly living lives of authority.

This idea is an absolute lie to deceive God’s people being used by the enemy to discouraged God’s people in this dark ages the history of the world are moving into. The opposite is rather the reality. The more the disciple of Christ Jesus is living a life of obedience the more fiercer the battle for your heart will be.

Unfortunately for the Bride of Christ there are no grey areas. You will get accepted and you will enjoy times of prosperity, but there will also be times that your battles will be fierce until death.

Paul understood this truth more than anyone when He wrote:


“Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger
at sea; and in danger from false brothers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.” 2 Corinthians 11:23-27 NIV


Just like Paul we will face opposition in various ways when we are truly are living in obedience. As I have written before in the above paragraphs; the problem is not with our strategy, the problem through which eyes we see these times of tribulation. Undoubtedly it is guaranteed that we will face trials and
oppositions.

What must our point of view be in these troubled times? Paul once again gave us this advice from his own life:



“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in
difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12: 9-10 NIV

Thus what we can learn from Paul’s life is that when we are facing difficult circumstances we did not choose we must delight in them. What does it mean to delight in our difficulties and how does this strategy keep us from doubting in Abba’s love for us?

DELIGHT: THE LIFE GIVING STRATEGY IN DIFFICULT TIMES
In our difficulties it is not easy to be thankful. Yet having a thankful heart towards our Heavenly Father is a wonderful way to connect with Him on a level where we learn to trust Him and in that trust a faith is cultivated in His abilities knowing that He will get us through the difficult circumstances.

Being thankful in difficult circumstances is not denying the circumstances or the impact it has on your life, being thankful merely says that you are acknowledging the Heavenly Father’s overall goodness, even in times of trouble. Most of us would call that faith.

Herein lays the most wonderful secret: WHEN WE LIVE LIFE WITH A THANKFUL ATTITUDE WE DELIGHT OURSELVES IN THE LORD.

In other words we are expressing our pleasure in the Lord even in our circumstances, nearly the same way as the bride expressing her pleasure for her groom on her wedding day. What we are doing then by being thankful in the Lord is that we are as the Bride of Christ we are expressing our pleasure for our
Bridegroom, giving Him thanks through our lives.

Still the better part is the outcome of such a lifestyle. Psalm 37v 4 says:

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.” NIV

This truth is pretty much simple but the impact of it in our lives as believers in the Lord is astounding.

What it says is this: If we live thankful lives the Heavenly Father shall grant us our desires and even those secret petitions we have in our hearts that we do not even know we have.

In intercession this is important. Why?

In intercession we receive answers on prayer we bring before the Heavenly Father. For the intercessor the equation is this: Thankful life=Faith=Answer to prayer

Not only is living a thankful life a basis for answered prayer it is also a God-given tool what the Holy Spirit uses to keep our hearts and minds pure in Christ Jesus. Therefore by being thankful we are not only at the right place to receive answers to our prayers but we also keep our hearts and minds intact.
