REMEMBER THAT PROMISE
When you feel afraid or alone
Just remember what God has done
In your heart remember all
The promise that he will keep
That God is always near to you
And He will never let you go
He will keep you safe from harm
Tonight and for ever more
When you feel you have no friend
Remember that Jesus is a friend of yours
He won’t desert you like the others do
So just remember his promise is true
So trust in him and you will see
He loves you more than words can say
He sent his son a gift so free
So always believe and trust his word
Don’t be afraid or feel alone
that you have no friend or nobody cares
God loves us all you know he does
He cares for every one of us
This is the first poem I wrote that I could hear the Holy spirit leading me what to say. I had just moved away from home to a job in a conference centre and I felt rather anxious and alone. That first night they took the staff to an Adrian Snell concert, and one of the songs really spoke to me. It was getting to the end of a long and weary day and doing his last singing performance and the words were
“oh they came tonight with all their hopes and fears they came for something real and some have come with wounds so deep that only you can heal and do they even know that you can calm the waves again Lord, take us safely home, be the shelter from the storm”
I had been wounded deep growing up and I was fearing the new house and new job and new people. I bought the tape and listened to this one over and over again and it brought me so much comfort, finally I went to bed and began to relax and that is when the words started in my head. I thought they were nice; it was the first sentence of the poem. They went round and round in my head and I realized that the only way to stop them going round in my head was to write them down which I did and then the rest of the words came and my poem was complete I Had a real peace and finally went to sleep.
There are so many truths in that poem now that I look back on them here are just a few thoughts
1) When we give Jesus our hearts then He can come and dwell with us
John 14:12-24 (NKJV)
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. "If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Fathers who sent Me.
Wow what a fantastic comfort and also challenge these verses are that the creator, the King of every King in dwells with us, it sums up and satisfies our every need
2) Jesus has promised to be with us each and every day. Although sometimes we may not have a physical friend we have Jesus living in us and He will never leave us or forsake us as family and friend may do.that must be such a comfort to us if we delve deep into the scripture and believe it deep in our hearts
Hebrews 13:5-8 (NKJV) says
Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Again in Deuteronomy 31:7-8 (NKJV)
Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, "Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the LORD, He is the one who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed."
Wow “All the promises He will keep” that line from my poem rings true. God promised Abraham to give him the land of milk and honey and now they were on the threshold of the promise being fulfilled. What a fantastic day that must have been and to know that all through the whining and grumbling and protests God never left them alone and uncared for. He always met their needs leading them out of Egypt
Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
TRUST IN HIM AND YOU WILL SEE
We need to trust God and His word, trust brings about faith which makes us stronger. Again scripture says
Proverbs 3:5-7 (NKJV)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
So my friend take these words and sink them deep into your heart, and even start a new bible study of your own using my poem as a base and the scriptures I have brought out
