GOD OF SECOND CHANCES

 The genealogy of Jesus Christ found in Matthew 1 looks like a bunch of names telling us from where Jesus Christ comes from as in the light of His human family history. Most of us only scanned through it without really thinking about the implications of the list of names.

 However when you take a closer look at the list of names a few names pops up that if you know their history you will never think that God will use them to bring the Savior through them into this world.

 Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathseba (she is mentioned as being Uriah’s wife). What a surprise! Despite their failures and their mistakes they became the grandmothers of the King of kings.

 This is beyond our wildest expectations and this is also a message of hope for us as women. For some reason we have this nagging voice of quilt pestering us every day of how we are not good enough, of how we are failures because we are not good enough mothers, wives or  just plain not enough for anybody because we are going into our thirties and are still single.

 Though whatever the reason this pestering voice is telling us is not what God thinks about us. We should learn to trust on what our Daddy thinks of us not the other way around. Recently I made the mistake of putting my savings money in an investment that I knew it is not what God’s want me to do. To cut the story short I lost it all, but what I have learnt out of this obviously is, do not jump the gun, do not trustany investment, but I rediscovered the father heart of my Daddy again.

 When I went back to Him in submission and obviously in repentance I did not once discovered a heart that turn on the tap of quilt upon me, no, I discovered a Daddy that said : “ I forgive you and I want you to trust Me and I love you.”

We as daughters of our Heavenly Father should take back our identity in Him. There are not any more time for us to held pity parties about our failures and past mistakes. We should take God at His word that He loves us and that we are good enough for  Him.

Then the victory of the cross is ours that will flow over towards the people around us and then we will start breaking new ground in the name of Jesus Christ. God is a Father of second chances. When we go to our Heavenly Father after making mistakes in repentance He will love us and forgot about our mistakes never again to think about it again.

 Then if we trust Him He will use us in ways that will even leave us and the people around us flabbergasted. No mistake or failure is ever too big for our Heavenly Father to forgive. All that we have to do is to turn to Him again and then we will be at the right place at the right time to be instruments of change in our families and communities.
