our nature ,God's law, and the stone veiled bride-dj eckert

I have dealt in the past
once in awhile
with some of
"God's servants" whose "reputations" preceded
a phony, dead smile.

The icy, stone cold frown
and the tortured, estranged eyes....
and the judgemental,probing with pointed pious questions ...
The sizing of me up and down though, is what I found the most peculiar.....
the seeking and searching..... looking for in me a reflection
that they might find
to be comforting .....
or at least somewhat familiar.

I'm left Pondering
what has made those miserable, company loving , starving cold eyes....

LORD,
forgive my presumptiveness, but here's my own humble take on what it is that
can lead ANY
of us future
BRIDES so
far astray
from
YOU......

A pile of decades ago,
when this servant
let YOU set up
YOUR temple
in their young and
pliant heart.....

back when the veil
that separated "her" from YOU was gracefully gone......

back when the
HOLY OF HOLIES had free reign upon her will......

and the law that YOU fulfilled
really,had nowhere to belong....

And as her life of preparing
to be YOUR SPIRIT Filled BRIDE unfurls....

as the wrinkles of unfolding time folded oh too quickly back upon
her brow....

With every little disobeying act , ignoring YOUR loving Grace....
With every failed chance to step out of YOUR way......and with every failed chance to step into THE WAY.

the law finds
for itself in her OWN temple
a SPIRIT purging
and fertile
growing place

And the veil slowly grows. ....
nearly undetected......
(quite typical of Satan's insidious crimes)
one disobedient stitch.....
one defiant thread ....
one heart broken,
self loathing formed callus....
......one at a time!

This ever growing,
thickening ,sickening veil
now hardens the heart,
pushes out YOUR SPIRIT
AND stiffens and resurrects the law...

...Eventually......
The heart is now so deadly cold....
that the law by itself
will never thaw.

The cold law NOW,
pours forth from her
callused and callous heart,
and YOUR grace.....
is all but gone.

YOUR grace and love are now only manifest
in her ritualistic,
hollowed-out,
reminiscent songs

BUT the law is NOW oh so easy for her! ...
and so obviously hard for all of those around.......

This unlawful "trash" that's all about town.......
those sinful ones who build up her pride......
they really don't
even deserve "God's love",
or for her "perfect" obedience to have to imbibe

So in "an obedience of convenience " she exports YOUR grace through missions to foreign lands because "they might " be more deserving......

And keeping YOUR
REAL Spirit Filled grace,
out of HER face ,
won't convict her
about WHAT it is
that she's truly serving.

Next time I'm confronted by that law shackled ,
ill-fated countenance
of that ill,
faded true smile ....

Lord I pray that I'm reminded of YOUR loving Grace,
and of prideful disobedience's
oh so insidious danger....
may the piercing and tormented,desolate eyes
not only NOT be able to find a familiar disguise....
but a totally uncomforting, but loving,understanding stranger.

But more importantly,God
May I pray for that
frozen temple's veil
to be gracefully thawed
by YOU,
her long ago forgotten
Potentially Resurrecting,
LAW Usurping Stranger!
THE ONE that
was so lovingly born
in HER long ago forgotten
soft hearted manger.

For
there,
but for
the GRACE
of YOU go I
In this most
cautionary tale...
For only YOU, THE BRIDEGROOM, can
give the Bride back to
HER, a soft and loving
TRULY HOLY veil!
