A forgotten stranger, standing on a broken cliff screaming his lungs out. He takes a deep breath of poisoned air as he hits the ground. Impossible to turn around, his knees hit the edge. He looks down at the ocean of mistakes made and feel the waves crashing down on his empty grave. His life seems empty, unsatisfied and petty. He feels as lifeless as can be, might just as well be pushing up daisies, jump off the cliff and silence the voices driving him crazy. Chills run down his spine, the haunting feeling of a broken lifeline. A gusting wind carries echos of: your not good enough, you'll never get back up, you'll remain stranded in the dark. With the tide coming in there's no hope on a fresh start. Just before he jumps off the edge he gets pulled back, he falls hitting his head and wakes up alone in his king-size bed. A nightmare it seems, or just a portrait of his broken life and feelings? He has to go to work again, he struggles, being held down by a thousand pound chain. He works a shift from nine to five, but with no drive he's unable to thrive. He has no friends, goes home all alone, feeling betrayed by his heart of stone. He feels smothered by the walls creeping in and tries to escape by falling into sin. He surrenders to drinking and lust intertwined, loses all hope as he gives in to the dark side. With every night passing by, the cracks grow deeper with women and booze in full supply. He is close to shatter, lies awake, torn and battered. With his eyes dry, he feels tired as his soul cries and the tears flow on the inside. He thinks about the dream, a quick way out it seems. He takes his Glock 17; ending his life, the true meaning of his dream? He stands facing the mirror, he lingers, takes one more minute to reconsider, before he pulls the trigger. He remembers something his mom said: " Gods not dead, He's always there." He opens his closet, pulls out a Bible preserved, brand new as the day his mom bought it. With tears in his eyes, he opens the Bible for the first time; reads Ephesians 2: 4-5, "you were dead through your trespasses, but you were made alive with Christ. By grace you have been saved." For years he has been living as a slave, he fell to his knees and started to pray. His dream made clear, almost fallaciously living it. He was pulled from the cliff, even if he didn't deserve it, he was worth it. A warm whisper touched his heart, pacified his soul torn by the fray; letting him know, everything will be okay. It's okay to make mistakes, it's okay to lose your way. There's a God who will raise you from the sin filled dust, sever the bond of temptation and lust. He will be by your side. He will keep you dry from the waves crashing in your life. You are never alone, a promise God made, a promise written in stone. Through the death of his flesh, his life was refreshed. He gave his pain to Christ and was raised to life.
