Savor a Cup With The Savior

Don’t miss it.  Don’t miss the invitation of a lifetime.  Or of every day.  Like not missing your morning cup of joe.  That first cup gets us going.  Sharing that cup with Jesus gets the morning going right.  Stop and take just a minute to savor the first cup of the day with the One who dreamed up those little caffeinated beans.  Get to know Jesus. Spend time with Him. Not the world’s thoughts about Him, or the books that are more words on topics to help you be a better person. Take Him up on His invitation to share an hour, even your whole life, just with you. Because the CEO of creation is not too busy to brush everything off His calendar just to be with you. And as you sit with Him, see His eyes really seeing you.  Hear His voice resonating with you.  Catch the fullness of His devoted love for you.   Jesus is the Love who laughs and cries and holds and walks with you right now in the middle of today.

He has a sense of humor and loves to make us laugh. He has a heart that holds all the tears when life is hard. His eyes see into the best of all He ever created you to be with vision and purpose and promise. His arms wrap around with giant bear hugs, on the happy days and the not so happy days. He’s right here. In this moment. Smiling over you. Savoring warmth and fellowship. Just glad to be with you, because He is all about knowing you, and you knowing Him. The real Jesus.  He doesn’t like to be the flat Stanley of dull Bible stories mailed from point to point in our brains. He didn’t conquer death just to save our souls for a someday eternity. He put aside glory and stepped into humanity and took out every barrier so He could become our best friend in life, and First Love in our hearts.  He is the King who has chosen the commoner to be His bride.

The fact that He is King and Lord, Savior and Redeemer, only adds to how amazing it all really is. It means you are chosen. Called by name. He said it Himself: “I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine.” (Isa. 43:1 NIV) With all His authority, these words are like a banner declaring that no one can mess with what is His:  you.  The Living God who thinks sharing a cup of joe and a long life together is worth dying for.  He's worth getting to know in ways that will rock your world right.
