There are some who love to hear about Christians who fall and some who love to announce when they do. Here David is referring to the unsaved when he refers to the Philistines. It isn't hard to figure out why the world loves to see Christians fall, but why do Christians sometimes enjoy it? Why? For the same reason - it is because we are walking in the flesh. The unsaved can do nothing but walk in the flesh, but Christians have a choice. We can overcome the flesh with the Spirit.

Our flesh loves to broadcast the sin of others and it loves to hear about the sin of others, but our Spirit doesn't! The Bible tells us that love covers a multitude of sins (Prov. 10:12) - our Spiritual nature will never be happy to proclaim the fall of anyone. Our Spiritual nature will enable us to do for others what we would want done for us. We will all fall, but what we do after is critical. We can continue on in our flesh or we can go to God for the help we are so desperate for.

Some do not understand that Christians are not perfect but that they struggle just like everyone else - the difference is, we have God on our side. He is our helper no matter what! If you are suffering from a fall, remember that God is right there to lift you up! Go to His Word for the encouragement and strength that you are so desperate for. If you know someone who is struggling because of a fall, go to them with the encouragement that is found in the Word. Share God's promises of hope, forgiveness, and strength. Build them up instead of tearing them down.
