The Path To Freedom..

Dear Jesus, I am very weary at heart,
And my pain seems to be too big a part.
Of my life at home for far too long.
Please put within my heart a new song.
One that brings my joy inside all about.
Instead if hurt, causing my heart to doubt.
This hard time in life will not ever fade.
Help me to my cloudy outlook forbade.

In it replace, to welcome joy that’s so pure
That it spreads to others for them to hear.
Of the greatness of your love for one and all,
That reaches down to the lowest that often fall.
Lord, help me not to think that this is me.
Please help me to open my eyes to see.
The many things to be so thankful for.
My friends, a home, church and food to store.

Let my often hurting heart be calmed at last.
I must leave behind all the ugliness of my past.
Then finally move forward down the narrow way.
Where your new mercies come day after day.
Yet right now my heart feels so very deeply numb,
I feel I've been forgotten and want to overcome.
From all the lies and the past that hold me down.
Instead, in forgiveness and truth I want to drown.

As it washes away the thoughts so bitterly kept.
And be rid of them, my hearts got to be stepped.
As far away from the painful memories you will.
And with thankfulness, my heart will begin to fill.
With unspeakable freedom found only in you!
To ask for forgiving truth is all I need to do!
Now, this is the Path to Freedom in Christ!
