Basket Baby

Hush Basket Baby; do not cry any more,

Dream down the river, of what’s in store.

For you, my Basket Baby, very dear to me,

You won’t be in a basket long, for you see,

An elegant woman has come to your aid.

Wee baby, floating away, the king forbade.

Another baby to see the light of day come,

So, I will sadly give up my joy as your mum.

To keep you safe, from a call at the closing,

On your life, I wish for you to go on dozing.

Abundant authority, one day will be yours,

The great power will open numerous doors.

To make you a renowned man of high honour,

I trust the basket to hold you a while longer.

Now, wait Basket Baby, don’t cry any more…
