Lord when all my work on earth is through and there's no more that I can do,

Don’t make me wait outside the gate; I'd rather be early than come up late.

But while I'm here and have my mind, let me be neighborly and kind.

May I not fail your love to show, It'll be too late when I must go.

My bags are packed, I've checked the lights; can't linger now, can't miss my flight.

Just one more thing I have to do, just leave one tiny light for you.

For when I'm gone I'll bear in mind, there's someone dear I'll leave behind.

He may decide he's coming home, He's not aware how far he'd roamed

And as his eyes search for a light, I can't be here as he thought I might.

I can't bear the thought that he can't see, so let me leave a part of me.

What can I leave that he may know, I told him someday I'd go.

He couldn't see the time so near, he hardly took the time to hear.

But he did take time to read my notes and many times I wrote Your quotes.

So this may be the thing I'll do; come back to God He still loves you.
