About Benjamin he said: “Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between His shoulders.” Deuteronomy 33:12 NIV

Years ago, I hurt my back. For a few days I could not get out of bed without help. One day as I laid helpless in bed this thought came to me:

You are my Beloved, when I look at you I smile.
You are the reason that made the pain worthwhile.
My Father has been glorified. You have been redeemed.
You are my beloved child, come and rest in Me.

The Lord is faithful to remind us that He understands pain. He endured tremendous pain, and seperation from God the Father, to redeem each one of us. No matter what our day brings, we can rest secure in Him. He is our shield, our protector and the lifter of our heads.

The Lord leads us...when we let Him. When we get bogged down in health, financial, relationship or work issues; we no longer rest between His shoulders. His shoulders are broad. He can carry the burdens of this life, we cannot.

The world around us can be coming apart, but when we open our hearts to Him we find rest in His Presence. Psalm 16:7-11 NIV says, “I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in Your Presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.”

Prayer: Father, thank you that we are Your beloved. You see every attitude, know every thought, yet You choose to love us where we are. Thank you that we can rest secure in Your presence and experience Your peace and joy. We praise You. Thank you for the gift of life. Amen.
