All Things Can Be New
By: Rick L. King
June 23, 2015
Do you like new things? If you are like me new things are rather nice to have. Unfortunately we don't always have new things.
Have you ever wanted a new car? The one that you drive gets you there but it is old and not too exciting. It seems many things don't work anymore. It doesn't have all the latest bells and whistles and really on the outside it may be a little embarrassing to be seen in with all the scrapes and dents or peeled paint. When you want a new car you look forward to having it. You can just imagine yourself sitting behind the wheel listening to a DVD or looking at all the computer features.
Have you ever considered that this is a picture of much of the church? The church is the same old broken down car that doesn't look so good anymore or even smell too great. It has lost its luster. We go to church and listen to all the old ways and things presented to us but do we really get excited or expectant anymore of what might happen in the service? It has just become routine. We go because we think we should even though we are not really enjoying it all that much.
God tells us that He makes all things new. Can you imagine getting excited again and looking forward to what new things God is going to do? His Holy Spirit comes and brings God's presence and you find yourself feeling joy and peace and witnessing Him touching people and setting them free. He starts saving the lost, and healing the sick, and delivering the oppressed. Wouldn't it be nice to get up for church and feel expectant at what is going to take place? You so look forward to being there you just can't hardly wait to get there.
We have settled for the old way too long. We do not have too. We don't have to keep driving that old clunker of a car. We can have all things new. We can be excited as we see the Spirit of God move in our midst. Why is it that we seem to get excited about new material things but not so much about new things of the Spirit?
This tells me the state of our walk with the Lord. The car excitement is satisfying our flesh. The church excitement is satisfying our spirit. Once a person experiences what it is like to be in God's presence and the freedom and joy that they can have they always want more. The Bible says that we are complete in Him, not in having new material things. We do not need anything else when we are in His presence as there is nothing greater to have. You have no cares, no worries, no fears, and no concerns. You are just totally 100% complete in Him. When there is a new move of God it is so joyful as you never know what He will do next. It is the most enjoyable thing that I have ever experienced in my life. Isn't it time to allow the Holy Spirit to do all the new things that God wants to do? Isn't it time for us to let the Holy Spirit run things instead of man and the broken down agendas and programs that quit working decades ago? I don't know about you but I am very tired of all the old and I am expectant and looking forward with great anticipation to all of the new.
