You reach down and search
Into the depths of my soul,
Revealing the secret places of my heart;
Places where the fire of Your gaze
Seeks to purge the areas of sin
And desire, pride and folly.
Let them be made known to me,
And may the recesses of my heart
Be purged of anything
That does not follow
Your perfect will for my life.
O Lord, Your path for my life
Is perfect in every detail.
May the desire of my heart
Be for your will alone.

Lord, give me the desires
Of a servant's heart,
And that Your plans will lead me
On a path of righteousness;
To people who have eyes,
But do not see,
Ears, but do not hear,
And hearts that do not understand.
The time of your coming is short,
And great will be the suffering
For those who wait too long.
Wide is the road that leads
To destruction and
Away from that Narrow gate,
And the salvation of our souls.

My selfishness keeps me from
Totally yielding my spirit,
Body, mind, soul, and will
To Your purpose.
It has kept me from opportunities
To bless those around me
With healing
From my gift of singing,
Which has been removed for a season.
I look forward to the time
Of personal healing
When my voice will be restored,
And I can begin again
To sing to the glory of God,
And to the ministry of music.

Today, I speak in croaking tones;
A voice frozen in time
Until the proper moment.
I speak most clearly with pen and paper,
Or computer and mind
Glued to an empty screen,
Hoping for the words to come
To a willing vessel.
I feel my spirit moved
By the One who speaks the words
Which appear on the page;
The words cascading out of the
Secret places of my heart,
That sees, feels, and experiences
All that has been revealed
To it,
Freely laying bare the frailties of the soul
For the reader to hear
And be encouraged.

The secret places of the heart
Provide the opportunity
To hear and respond to what needs
To change in my heart,
To live rightly before the King
And as a testimony before
Those who need to see
A woman who is growing close
To the heart of God.
