Receiving Sight

John 9:31 shares, ‘Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshipper of God and does His will, He hears him.’

The context of this passage is when our Lord brought sight to a man blind from birth. Jesus also did this on the Sabbath, which by tradition of the Jews was doing work on the day of rest when no work was to be done. In the mind of the Pharisees Jesus was breaking the Law in addition to opposition for their disbelief that Jesus is God’s promised Messiah.

To qualify from the verse I read, in what the blind man, now with sight said. To begin with, there is no healing of a blind man recorded anywhere in the Old Testament, so this is a first occurrence for anyone to be given visual sight, and, when he said; ‘Now we know that God does not hear sinners….’

What he’s actually translating is those sinners without faith, it’s those God will close His ear to. In Truth we’re all sinners, ‘none is righteous no not one,’ as proclaimed in Romans 3:10. Isaiah 53:6 the prophet declares, ‘all we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way…”

But through faith given from above and the hope we hold on to; we have Jesus as our promise, who became sin for us on the cross. And who intercedes for us, [1Timothy 2:5] just as He brought visual sight to a man blind from birth. Our Lord, through the power of His presence gives us each Spiritual sight or vision; when we take hold promises from His word in our heart, doing His will.
