Do I Hear an Amen?

The Lord said to Moses:
“How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them?” (Numbers 14:11)

And Jesus had the same problem; even the religious leaders refused to believe in him; in spite of all the miraculous signs he performed.

And isn’t it the same today; here in this great nation that has been so blessed? Yes, some believe, but most don’t. And even those who do, there are some among us who do not follow the Way. We have become too complacent; we have become arrogant; we have become too prideful. Somehow, we have come to the erroneous idea that we built this great nation ourselves, through our own merits and we have failed to give God the glory. Just as the Israelites did.

And now we stand on the brink of destruction and wonder why. We still refuse to trust God. You speak of Him; you even say you pray; but do you really believe? Do you really trust God?

One man said to me recently, “There’s no point, why bother? America will never be the same.” What a defeatist attitude. This same man used to send me emails with pornographic pictures and dirty jokes and other emails about praying to God. Sounds confusing doesn’t it? And those porn pictures led to porn sites. I had to ask him to stop or quit emailing me altogether. There must be hundreds of thousands of those sites on the internet. And homosexuality has become an accepted alternative lifestyle while the Christian community, as a whole, remains silent. Doesn’t it tell us in Ephesians 5:11 to expose the fruitless deeds of darkness?

Sexual immorality is rampant, even among so-called believers and again I remind you of what it says in Ephesians 5:3, “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality…”

And God is crying out to us. I see it everywhere on Facebook, blogs, Twitter, and even on television: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

“called by my name” Christian; “The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.” (Acts 11:26)

“turn from their wicked ways…” 1 John 1:9 “confess your sins”

“forgive their sins”.. 1John 1:9.. “and cleanse them from all unrighteousness.”

“I will heal their land.” Our land, the United States of America, can be saved from destruction if God’s people will humble themselves, turn to Him and repent.

I know I did. Several years ago, when I lived alone in Texas, I cruised the porn sites. I was a born-again Christian, have been for over four decades; but I was angry at God because of one of my own failures, and I turned my back on him. Then I moved up here to Indiana to be with my wife (not my wife at that time); we were living together without the benefit of marriage.

And one day we came to the realization that we were living in sin. We asked God’s forgiveness; my wife was baptized, and we got married. And God is blessing us.

We humbled ourselves; turned from our sins, and asked God’s forgiveness. And now here I am serving God with my writing.

Children of God, listen to me. Stop what you are doing.

Are you cheating on your spouse? Stop it and ask God’s forgiveness

Are you stealing from your employer? Stop it and seek God’s forgiveness

Are you cruising porn sites? For God’s sake, stop it and ask his forgiveness

Are you so busy working for the almighty dollar that you don’t have time to spend with Almighty God? Stop it. Humble yourself, confess your sin, seek God and his forgiveness and He will heal our land.
