Palm Tree Troubles

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Isaiah 40:29

We recently went on vacation to Florida and stayed at a lovely resort, which my husband found at a wonderful discount online. When we drove up the circle driveway to the resort, the first thing I spotted were the huge palm trees that lined the sidewalk in front of the building. These trees were magnificent in their size and beauty. I noticed each tree was braced at the trunk by several boards, providing extra support.

Apparently, palm trees can be very fragile and prone to fall over, especially if newly planted. Perhaps their root structure hasn’t had time to get fully established or high winds can be particularly destructive. Whatever the reason, the trees need extra support to help them stand tall.

I feel like the palm tree sometimes and need extra support. It seems the winds of life just want to knock me down. However, Isaiah Scripture reminds me, “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” God is there help hold me up with His strength and power that never diminish. Even when the circumstances and failures of every day threaten to weaken my soul, the Lord gives me fortitude. He will always be there to brace me with His love and presence.

Rely on God to be your strength in the storms of life. Grasp more of His stability today by digging deeper into His word and spending time with Him in prayer.
