Resolve Instead Of Making Good Intentions

by

Stephen A. Peterson

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV)

What are your plans for your short time on earth? To be a rolling stone or to have a purposeless life? Rolling stones have no direction that roll downhill maybe towards water, a forest, an unpaved road or perhaps to an open sewer that may become increasingly perilous hour by hour, day by day.

Put purpose and meaning in your life! Be disciplined! Be resolute! Be determined! Never submit to pessimism or be passive! Floating in life without purpose or meaning is dangerous. For the course of least resistance and being uninvolved always point downstream.

Strong desire, with purpose and mental toughness are all required to make it upstream in one’s life. The only way is to pull whatever anchors hold you in place, pull up your sails or take up your oars and take to the task of moving ahead. In the face of failure and mistakes, those with resolve will go forward and will overcome their failures and mistakes stronger and better suited for the additional work resulting in accomplishment no matter how small or great. The one mistake a forward looking person never makes is—doing nothing!

Prayer:

Almighty and Omnipotent Father, help me to have a fruitful and positive outlook with the life You have granted me. Make my intentions worthy and my work a reflection of Your goodness and Will to those I am called by You to serve. These things I prayer in Your Most Holy Name. Amen.
