Love is not blind, Hate is.

Love is blind.

This is about the most popular and most famous quote on love but it's a shame that it is very incorrect. It's as incorrect as describing light as darkness.

Love can be defined as a "strong feeling of affection" or "strong interest in a thing". Can you have an affection or interest in something you cannot see(e.g a spirit)?

Love has a very clear vision much more than is credited to it but because of its nature it doesn't discriminate or 'pick and mix'. True love is unconditional and so though it sees everything(including flaws, deformities, etc) it still choses to love all the same, not because it is oblivious of the imperfections but because in spite of the imperfections it deems the subject still worthy of being loved. Because of this unconditional and selfless nature of Love, the unwise consider it to be blind. Love isn't blind.

Hate is blind.

Hate on the other hand, is indeed the blind one. That is why hate can be random, irrational and without reason. It cannot see the good in anything or anyone no matter how little. Even the good qualities of the subject are discounted by Hate so that even qualities that should be commended are actually condemned. Blindness.

If a person loves another, don't ridicule their love as being blind simply because you don't think they're a 'match' based on your misguided standards. They might have what you can only wish for and maybe if only you'll stop trying to 'see' for your love, you might also get lucky in love.

It is this misconception about love that is responsible for our loveless society and has made love a very rare and scarce commodity. Because people wrongly believe that love is blind they try to provide it with 'visual aids' and this has led to many broken marriages, failed relationships, abusive relationships, damaged and unforgiving hearts, incurable distrust and many more emotional liabilities.

The Love Game.

Love isn't a game but because of the misconception that it is blind, people play 'Hide and Seek' in and with love.

She thinks He loves her because he calls her many times a day.She yields her love to him. He stops calling. Now they fight over who should call who. sighs The guy who always made himself available when she needed him didn't always call so she fell for what she 'saw' - the call guy.

He thinks She loves him because she welcomes his advances and gushes over his gifts. He gives more expecting a commitment. She's unsure and reluctant. He's confused. She's mad that he's confused. He calls her a gold digger. She calls him a foolish little boy. Love ended before it began. The girl who was more interested in him and his future wasn't so keen on his gifts and he 'saw' this as a rejection and left.

Their dads were old schoolmates and now business associates and both families are close.Their union would solidify everything. They barely know each other. They marry for convenience. It isn't convenient. Bitter divorce. Their parents are now sworn enemies while both are left shattered and broken. She was lovebirds with another guy but his parents were from a different circle without much collateral benefits for her dad's business. Her dad 'saw' this disadvantage and refused.

We need to redeem ourselves from this age long misconception about Love before Hate obliterates what little love is still around us. Hate is like darkness and at its reign there's little or no progress until there's light. Love is that light and even the least of it drives away a great darkness of hate. Love and Hate are mutually exclusive - in the presence of one you could never find the other. You either love or you hate. You cannot love some and hate some. You cannot love a person or thing 99% and hate it only 1%. That's impossible because just that 1% corrupts it as conditional which is a type of hatred. When love is conditional, when the condition upon which it is based is no longer there it vanishes and is replaced by hate.

Do you love or do you hate? You can't do both.

Love.
