Oh, you should have seen her a few weeks ago, as my precious wife was trying so hard to return to work after her chemo treatments. She got a shower, put on her make-up and dried her hair. But, then the pain hit her stomach and she just couldn't do it. She has a 47 mile ride into work and just didn't think she could make the drive today. But, the point is, SHE TRIED! She gave it everything she had. Some may see it as a failed attempt, but I see it as her getting one step closer to returning to work. It’s not how many times you fail, as long as you keep trying, keep giving it everything you have, eventually victory WILL come. I know she is disappointed, but I could not be more proud of her. She inspires me every day, and I am so extremely blessed that God gave me such an amazing help-mate to take this journey with.

If I had to define this 1,204 day cancer war we have been fighting, the word roller coaster certainly seems to be fitting. We have had so many high and lows, so many setbacks, yet so many victories. But what I have seen is one mighty warrior who refuses to give up. She is not only fighting for her life, she is fighting for her God, to show the world just how amazingly wonderful He is; to show, no matter whether she is experiencing the highest of highs or lowest of lows, He is right there with her. I am not a betting man, but if I were, I would bet she is at home right now, quoting healing scriptures, with praise and worship in the background. She knows from past experiences that praising God in the midst of a storm, is the quickest path to victory.

I know some of you are in the midst of your own storms right now, and I want to encourage you to keep fighting. Hold tight to God’s promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 which says that, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” And the temptation in this context is the temptation to give up, to quit fighting, to just lie down in defeat. Listen, we are warned in 1 Peter 5:8, “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” He is just looking for that moment of weakness, so he can begin feeding us lies, to tell us that God doesn't care about us. After all, if He really loved us, why would He be allowing us to get so low. But never forget, He is the father of lies, and wants nothing more than for us to give up, to just lay down and die. But WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD, sons and daughters of the King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Resist the devil and watch him flee! (James 4:7) He has no power or authority over us; Isaiah 41:10 tells us, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Yes! Yes! Yes! VICTORY IS OURS SAYS THE LORD! So join my precious wife today, and begin claiming your VICTORY. Get yourself in the presence of God; let Him minister to you, and watch in amazement as He shows you just how powerful He is. Let me leave you with one last promise from God’s Holy Word, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will NEVER let the righteous be shaken.” Psalm 55:22
