There is a real missed opportunity here; An opportunity to bring attention to the fact that we, as a whole, are frustrated with the government always trying to interfere with our lives. Unfortunately, that conversation is being overshadowed by a different conversation – that blacks are being disproportionately targeted by white police officers.



What the Ferguson case showed us is that the assault is on the American people and the freedoms that many of our grandparents gave their lives to defend. We can’t ride a bicycle on the sidewalk without 3 different lights, or cross the street without a big flashing hand telling us when to stop. It seems like we have to give fingerprints just to get a cup of coffee these day. Where did shaking a mans hand and giving him your word, go? Why don’t the police officers mingle amongst the people anymore? Why the fear? Why the sense of urgency?



The outrageous Ferguson response is exactly what they wanted, otherwise the light would have revealed the true source of the pain we feel – that we are being enslaved, and that we know intrinsically that we weren’t created to be enslaved to man, but rather we were made to have constant communion with the Almighty, God; The frustration within us is to resist being owned by another man that we may serve the Living God.



And here’s the kicker, God doesn’t care if you’re black or white, a police officer or a civilian, God wants to teach all of us how to be better lovers of our brothers and neighbors. God wants to teach us to forgive quickly, to listen far more often than we speak, to trust and to be faithful. But, so long as we yield to someone else teaching us how to hate one another because our skin is slightly darker or lighter, Gods results will be delayed.
