Think of the habit of living without blame and above condemnation as a gateway into the New Testament version of the Promised Land; what has been called the Land of Promises, meaning fulfilled and fulfilling promises. Romans Chapter 8 represents and describes that place in the Spirit. And Chapter 8 begins with this threshold verse.: "there is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ, who walk not according to the flesh but according to spirit. The following verse goes on to say that "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death." And that means also having been set free from regrets and those nagging, haunting, recriminating thoughts and words, known in Bible parlance as condemnation. Walking in the Spirit means walking free of such undermining influence, but to entertain and accept that undertow is to walk in the flesh. This becomes our gauge. Not that those thoughts and accusations don't ever present themselves, they may come in subtler and subtler forms, but we have learned and are learning how to fend them off and silence them in the name of Jesus.
