Who Purifies Part 2

    The same chapter 20 in Proverbs goes on to give us another dazzling preview of good things to come in verse 27. “The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD searching all the inner depths (rooms) of his heart.” Once our hearts have been purified by the sacrificial blood of the Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world, they become fit vessels for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit then illumines our spirits as His lamps to carry and search out the hidden rooms, the hidden rooms or places within us that we had no clue were even there. We didn’t know we were so extensive within, with so many rooms to enter and explore! 

   But there is a caveat.  These rooms can be defiled or or even wounded.  They are not like the inanimate rooms we are used to thinking about, they are living or animate rooms.  Inanimate rooms can be destroyed, living rooms can be wounded, and one of the main ways these rooms can be wounded is by entertaining or spreading gossip. (See Proverbs 26 v.22) (In fact, it often happens, when it happens, in the part of the house known as the"living room.")  Of all sins that is one we must especially avoid if we hope to go on this exploration. 

  For the rest of our lives He leads us with His lantern on a mystery tour deeper and deeper within our beings and those of our loved ones as we discover more and more about Him and therefore ourselves uncovering who we actually are in Christ. To the depth and extent that we are led on this tour within ourselves, to that depth and extent it may be given us by the Spirit to see and begin to understand what is within others whom God has put in our lives and in our paths. It is not a journey that closes us in but one that opens us outward.
