Jesus as he walked the earth liked to take in the history of his land. He must have thought of Solomon when he strolled in Solomon’s Portico (the last remnant of Solomon’s original temple) in the temple, as he must have thought of his forefather Jacob when approaching his well in John Chapter 4. This well after all had been the source and foundation of the physical life of the whole nation of Israel, whose tribes had descended from the twelve sons of Jacob.

What Jesus told the woman at this well was that he had within him another well that would be the the source of a new and holy nation. (It’s so good to know that this Well within is well within our reach! :) )

The Holy Spirit that would soon be poured out at Pentocost would “water” a nation made up of all nations and races to be founded on a spiritual family of twelve apostles that he knew would go on and out to turn the entire world upside down.

In John the seventh chapter Jesus promised that from the ones who believed in Him would flow rivers of living water continuously (Amplified Bible) Not a river but rivers and springs flowing from the one who believes. Springs are such that, naturally speaking, villages can be built around them, and around and along rivers cities are built. It is also true in the Spirit. We have within us and issuing from us what can create and sustain new settlements in the Spirit. It has been happening ever since Jesus spoke those words and continues to happen today through His willing and available followers.
