The Most Awesome Authority

  In Revelations 20 an angel binds up the devil for a thousand years. Only ONE angel, mind you, was needed to put all of us who believe and will yet believe out of the devil’s reach for an entire millennium. Wow!! If only one angel has that kind of authority, imagine the power of all the total authority present in the sum total of all the angelic hosts! And we’re still talking about the angels and their DELEGATED authority, we haven’t talked about the Trinity or the Body of Christ.

 Imagine when the time fully comes for that angel to do that actual binding of the devil and all his demons with him, for they must follow their leader and go where he goes. What an awesome deliverance that will be, and it will be in the name of Jesus, for it was and will be from His cross that the victory over evil flows and will ever flow. It will be the greatest deliverance or “exorcism” to that point in the history of the world! And, yet, it will not be final, or the final one. It will be surpassed by only one other one to come, one more deliverance by Jesus, the Master of deliverance Himself. This will be the culminating deliverance for which all those he did in his earthly ministry were but foreshadowing types.

  After all, it can remind us that the very word "authority" has "author" for its root, and we know Who is the "author and finisher of our faith." (Hebrews 12 v.2) The Deliverer of all Deliverers will wield such an awesome unprecedented authority so as to cast Satan and all his evil subjects so far away (as far as east is from west) and into such a place that they will never be heard from again, that frightfully fateful place known as the lake of fire.
